Sitar / Khyal

The sitar is the most popular string instrument in India. It is most prominent in classical music, but can be also heard in folk and even pop music.

The sitar is an instrument of the northern (Hindustani) Indian classical form of music called Khayal.

Dudu Elkabir has been playing the sitar since 1996 in the classical tradition of India’s most renowned sitar players. He has performed in many musical festivals and events in Israel (sacred music festival, Inbal Theater, the Confederation House in Jerusalem) and is holding events and private concerts in a fashion respectful of the classical music form he is an exponent of.
